All India Institute of Medical Sciences Kalyani has announced a walk-in recruitment drive for Project Research Scientist-I and Project Technical Support-III under an ICMR extramural project. Eligible science graduates can apply online by 21 November 2026.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani, situated in Nadia district of West Bengal, was established as an autonomous Institute of National Importance under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The institute delivers super-specialty medical treatment, advanced clinical research, and undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
In addition to clinical services, AIIMS Kalyani conducts cutting-edge medical research in collaboration with national funding agencies such as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), and Department of Science and Technology (DST). Extramural research projects focus on infectious diseases, molecular epidemiology, cancer biology, and public health surveillance.
Under the Department of Research and the Dean (Research) office, an extramural research study funded by ICMR requires specialized scientific personnel to conduct molecular diagnostic assays, laboratory sample processing, epidemiological field surveys, and statistical analysis. 1. Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical): 1 vacancy to plan experimental protocols, execute molecular assays, analyze experimental data, and draft scientific reports.
2. Project Technical Support-III: 1 vacancy to assist in clinical sample collection, sample accessioning, maintaining laboratory biosafety, and managing inventory records.

Candidates must possess a First Class Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related biological discipline from a recognized university, with at least three years of verified laboratory research experience; OR
A Ph.D. degree in the above subjects from a recognized university. Candidates possessing a Ph.D. are exempted from the three-year post-qualification experience requirement.
Desirable qualifications include hands-on experience in real-time PCR, ELISA, cell culture, flow cytometry, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data handling, and bio-statistical analysis using R or SPSS software.
Candidates must possess a three-year Graduate Degree in Life Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT), Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, or Psychology from a recognized university, with at least three years of practical clinical or laboratory experience; OR
A Master Degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or Allied Health Sciences from a recognized university.
Hands-on experience in clinical sample collection, phlebotomy, cold-chain maintenance, laboratory equipment calibration, and data entry into electronic databases is highly desirable.
The upper age limit is 35 years as on the last date of application submission, 21 November 2026.
Age relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, and 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) will be granted in accordance with Government of India and ICMR guidelines.
The monthly remuneration is disbursed strictly in accordance with approved ICMR extramural project norms:
1. Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical): Rs. 56,000 per month plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per rules.
2. Project Technical Support-III: Rs. 28,000 per month plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per rules.
No other allowances such as dearness allowance, transport allowance, or medical reimbursement are payable. Remuneration is subject to applicable income tax deductions at source.
1. Conducting nucleic acid extraction, gel electrophoresis, quantitative RT-PCR, and immunoassays on human biological specimens.
2. Managing clinical specimen bio-banking, maintaining liquid nitrogen freezers, and tracking sample logistics between field sites and the central laboratory.
3. Entering clinical and laboratory test results into digital case report forms (e-CRFs) and performing statistical quality control checks.
4. Preparing periodic project progress reports, research manuscripts, and audit documentation for review by ICMR monitoring committees.
5. Maintaining laboratory biosafety level protocols, chemical inventory registers, and instrument calibration logs.
