District Court Kottayam has issued an official notification for the post of Confidential Assistant on a contract basis in the Fast Track Special Court Erattupetta. Eligible candidates can submit offline applications by 13 November 2026.
Kottayam District Court forms an integral component of the subordinate judiciary in Kerala, functioning under the superintendence of the High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam. The district judiciary exercises original and appellate jurisdiction across civil, criminal, motor accidents claims, and family litigation across six administrative taluks: Kottayam, Changanassery, Vaikom, Meenachil (Pala), Kanjirappally, and Erattupetta.
To ensure time-bound adjudication of sensitive criminal trials under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and related special penal statutes, the Government of Kerala established Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) across all judicial districts. These special courts conduct daily in-camera trials to protect vulnerable victims and expedite depositions without procedural adjournments.
Maintaining the integrity of confidential depositions, recording verbatim testimony, and typing daily judicial rulings requires highly skilled stenographic personnel. The presiding special judge relies on a Confidential Assistant to transcribe sensitive oral testimony accurately into the Case Information System (CIS). To staff the vacant post at the Fast Track Special Court in Erattupetta, the District Judge of Kottayam has issued official notification C1-5415 OF 2022 inviting applications from qualified stenographers on a contract basis.
Selected personnel will work in a professional judicial setting, gaining valuable courtroom experience while drawing consolidated monthly compensation under state finance department rules. Don't miss this opportunity to serve in the Kerala subordinate judicial establishment.
Fast Track Special Courts operate under statutory guidelines framed by the Supreme Court of India and High Court of Kerala. These courts prioritize child-friendly proceedings, ensuring that young victims do not face accused perpetrators directly during examination. Audio-video linkages, one-way mirrors, and separate waiting lounges are standard fixtures in the Erattupetta courtroom.
In this sensitive judicial environment, the role of the Confidential Assistant extends beyond mechanical stenography. The assistant must capture nuanced witness answers, judicial queries, and legal objections with absolute fidelity. Even minor typographical errors in recording dates, injury descriptions, or witness identifications can impact criminal appeals before appellate courts.
Furthermore, all case files in Fast Track Special Courts are digitized on the CIS platform with masked victim identities to maintain statutory privacy. The Confidential Assistant works alongside the system administrator to maintain electronic case records, archive digital depositions on secure local servers, and generate encrypted cause lists.
