West Bengal Public Service Commission has announced 247 posts of Industrial Development Officer under the MSME and Textiles Department. Eligible graduates and diploma holders can apply at psc.wb.gov.in by 27 November 2026.
West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) conducts merit selections for civil executive and technical cadres across state directorates. Under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, the Directorate of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises promotes industrial clusters, handicraft development, rural entrepreneurship, and khadi enterprises across 23 districts from Darjeeling in the north to South 24 Parganas in the south.
Micro and small enterprises generate substantial employment in rural and suburban Bengal, supporting weavers, leather artisans, metal craftsmen, and food processing units. Facilitating these enterprises requires trained field officers who can guide entrepreneurs through credit subsidy schemes, verify industrial land allocations in state industrial estates, and monitor statutory compliance under the MSMED Act. To address supervisory vacancies across District Industries Centres (DICs), WBPSC has issued Advertisement Number 11/2026 for 247 Industrial Development Officer (IDO) positions.
Appointees will act as the direct administrative interface between budding entrepreneurs and the state government, assisting in project appraisal, bank loan sanctions under the Shilpa Sathi single-window system, and marketing support through Biswa Bangla emporiums. These permanent positions offer regular state pay scales, festival allowances, medical reimbursement under the West Bengal Health Scheme, and structured promotion ladders to Assistant Director of MSME. Don't miss this opportunity to contribute to Bengal industrial development.
The 247 vacancies under Advertisement Number 11/2026 are distributed across social categories under state reservation rules:
1. Unreserved (General): 102 vacancies open to candidates across all communities based on merit.
2. Scheduled Caste (SC): 54 vacancies reserved for candidates holding valid SC certificates issued by competent sub-divisional officers in West Bengal.
3. Scheduled Tribe (ST): 15 vacancies reserved for bonafide ST residents of West Bengal.
4. Other Backward Classes Category A (OBC-A): 25 vacancies reserved for candidates belonging to notified non-creamy layer OBC-A communities in West Bengal.
5. Other Backward Classes Category B (OBC-B): 17 vacancies for eligible OBC-B candidates holding current income certificates.
6. Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 24 vacancies reserved for candidates meeting family asset and annual income ceilings under state EWS guidelines.
7. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 vacancies reserved on horizontal basis across locomotor disability, visual impairment, and hearing impairment categories.
Reservation benefits, fee exemptions, and age relaxations are strictly available to candidates domiciled in West Bengal. Applicants from other states may apply under the Unreserved category provided they meet general eligibility norms.
