Railway Recruitment Boards have outlined the official syllabus and examination scheme for Station Master posts under CEN NTPC. Aspirants can review the multi-stage CBT curriculum and marking pattern here.
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) recruits Station Masters under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix. The selection architecture comprises Computer Based Test Stage 1 (Screening), Computer Based Test Stage 2 (Main Merit), Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), and Document Verification.
Both CBT 1 and CBT 2 feature objective multiple choice questions with bilingual English and Hindi options. A penalty of one-third mark applies for every wrong response.
The first stage Computer Based Test acts as a common screening test with 100 questions to be solved in 90 minutes:
• General Awareness: 40 Questions (40 Marks) covering current events, Indian history, geography, economy, and general science.
• Mathematics: 30 Questions (30 Marks) covering number systems, percentages, ratios, time and work, algebra, and mensuration.
• General Intelligence and Reasoning: 30 Questions (30 Marks) covering analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations, and syllogisms.
• Total Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by scribes).
Candidates shortlisted at 15 times the vacancy count appear for CBT 2 carrying 120 questions over 90 minutes:
• General Awareness: 50 Questions (50 Marks) with deep focus on static GK, railway history, and Indian polity.
• Mathematics: 35 Questions (35 Marks) with advanced arithmetic and basic trigonometry.
• General Intelligence and Reasoning: 35 Questions (35 Marks) with analytical and critical reasoning puzzles.
• Negative Marking: One-third mark deducted for each incorrect answer.
Station Master candidates shortlisted after CBT 2 must qualify the Computer Based Aptitude Test comprising 5 battery tests:
• Intelligence Test, Selective Attention Test, Spatial Scanning Test, Information Ordering Test, and Personality Test.
• Candidates must score a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each test battery separately to qualify.
